After finishing the setup of the document, I started to sketch out ideas for the initial 'PVA' page layout, thinking about collage styles and referring back to my earlier research.
I began thinking about previous styles I had used in my first publication and thought about how I might adapt them in my current one. I broke down the work 'PVA' into letters and then separated them further by using boxes. The idea behind this was to create a digitised newspaper clipping style, something I could maybe later apply in other areas of the publication.
Photoshop Editing
I started to edit my photo taken of PVA from a live performance at the Brixton Windmill. I started by bringing an image into Photoshop. I then went to Select > Colour Range and created a new layer with just the Midtones. I then Colour Overlayed the Midtones to Black. I then Lasso'd the area of the image I wanted cut from the rest free hand.
InDesign Layout
Once edited in Photoshop, I then saved the image as a PNG file and imported it to InDesign. From here I could place the image how I wanted across a double or single page spread. I decided to span this image across the double pages. I then added a similar style black box with placeholder text, this gave me an idea of how the page layout may look later on in my development after I've acquired written content.
