Task

For this workshop Fraser and Rob asked us to choose any Wikipedia page from the internet and use the content (type and imagery) to create a page layout (could be multiple or singular). They didn't specify what to do - but as a designer look for editorial decisions that would improve the way this page is laid out.

To keep things "music" related, I chose to use Irish alternative band, Fontaines D.C.'s wikipedia page as my content.

Editorial Decisions

I started by creating an A4 double page spread, giving it 14mm equal margins all around and 2 columns. The title text is Helvetica Neue Bold, 87pt, leading 104.4pt and the body text is Helvetica Neue Regular, 11pt, tracking 5, leading 10.

I setup the baseline grid to start at 0mm, increment every 13pt, view threshold to 5% and set the title and body text to snap/align to the baseline grid.

To keep the theme simple I took the photo used on the Wikipedia page and edited to be black and white. I scaled it to meet the width of 1 column.
