Previous Publication Work
I thought it might be useful to quickly look back at some of my own previous publication work. Looking at their format, size, print, style, image and text - talking about each one and seeing if I might draw aspects and ideas from them, that I could later use throughout my design process.
When I looked at the 'Tonal' Zine, A4 size (top left) I remembered the DIY aspect to that day task - cutting, sticking and ripping of newspapers to create something. I like the idea of maybe taking this style and adapting it to a more digital format.
The First Men in the Moon Publication, A3 size (top right) was a project that took place over the space of a few months and required InDesign paragraph style, characters styles and general publication layout knowledge to achieve an end result like this. I personally loved the end result of this project and maybe want to look to take areas of its typesetting and apply them to my design.
The Pedals Zine, A5 size (bottom left) was a publication that took guitar pedal designs and enlarged them to focus the attention to the details of some of these designs. I like the the way I've taken advantage of double page spreads to utilise the space in such as small format. I think when using solely imagery in a publication, its important that the designs are clear, the image quality is good and use of cropping is key.
